Before they can write any blocks to solve missions, students need to design a robot. This can be an iterative process throughout the season, but teams should settle on an overall base chassis EARLY and stick with it unless they absolutely have to change. Below are some lessons describing the attributes of a good FLL robot chassis, links to step by step robot plans, and other resources to build an amazing robot.
Base Robot Plans:
LEGO Driving Base 1 (also inside Spike software)
Super simple and small, but hard to add motorized attachments
LEGO Advanced Driving Base (also inside Spike software).
WARNING: Watch This Video explaining some of the problems CC4H Robotics had with the Advanced Driving Base before encouraging your students to build this robot!
CC4H Base Bot: A modular, expandable, simple base robot we designed to share with the CC4H Robotics students.
